I first met Ruth 8 years ago.
Our paths crossed when my daughter went to the village Pre-School, where she was Administrator.
After I joined the Pre-School Committee, she and I launched the Acorn Project, successfully fundraising over Β£160k in 4 years for a new community building for our village π
– and in the process became good friends π
In fact, I’d enjoyed working with her so much that when the doors opened on the new building, I asked her to join KGC Ltd as my Administrator (while continuing to manage the Pre-School) – and my business was never the same again ππͺ
Today is her last day in that role in the Pre-School, and I want to take this opportunity to celebrate her! ππ
I say to my clients, finding good people is the number one job of any leader.
I have been immensely lucky that our village Pre-School meant that I found Ruth – as a co-worker, and a friend π₯°
We have enormously complementary skills:
β¨ I compared our work behavioural profiles once, and she was the exact opposite of me. She actually likes spreadsheets! π± And working out what’s happening with the money! π€·ββοΈ (You might be able to tell these are not my favourite things… π)
But we also have very compatible personalities, sharing a strong commitment to getting things done, community, family and food – especially dark chocolate ππ«
(But she’s a MUCH better baker than me π)
She was an incredible partner-in-crime on the Acorn Project, and she’s now an enormous support inside KGC Ltd
– I value not only her efforts in keeping the show on the road, but also her thoughtful guidance, and, above all, her patient persistence – which she needs a lot of, trying to get me to do things for the accountant π€ͺ
And I’m delighted to say that the Pre-School’s loss is KGC Ltd’s gain:
π she will be increasing her role within the business – she’s already got a new job title of Business Manager, and I have a long list of things I’m looking forward to getting help on… π
I’m very lucky to have her π₯°
So thank you very much, Ruth, for everything you do, and have done – and I’m really looking forward to the next chapter! ππ₯πͺ
And here’s to ALL the Ruths out there
– quietly & effectively making things happen behind the scenes, without whom those of us more in the spotlight would be completely stuffed… π§‘
Thank you! ππ
Wishing you a positive, productive, and THANK YOU TO THE RUTHS OF THE WORLD-filled week! ππ₯πͺ
with much love ππ§‘
